Red River Predator calls

I started calling Coyotes and bobcats about eleven years ago and I've been addicted every since.

I was sitting around talking to one of my good friends grandfather who told me of how he used to call up foxes in Oklahoma with an old call he whittled out of a piece of wood and he used the side of a milk jug for the reed.  after hearing his stories of foxes and coyotes practically running over him coming to his calls got me very interested and I knew from those few conversations that it was something that I really wanted to try out.

it then led to going out with my buddies and playing the ole' rabbit blues on a portable radio and attempting to call in a coyote or two.  Needless to say we didn't have much luck with that, but we were sure having fun doing it.  After that, I switched my calling to primarily hand calls because of the various pitches that you can achieve with an open reed distress call.

Over the years, I decided that I would take my addiction a step further and start making my own custom calls. I enjoy making each and every call that I turn. I started out just doing this for fun and I intend on it staying that way. if you are not having fun, it's not worth doing.

I primarily use my own hand calls when I'm out calling, but I do use the New Foxpro FX5 for doing a lot of my howling, and some times when I need to get the attention off of the area that I am sitting at.  I also  like to use it for the variety of different sounds that you can put on the FX5 when calling cats as well.

I do have to say thanks to two people. First,  my uncle Johnny for giving me a place to hunt when I was young and showing me the enjoyment of the outdoors, and last but not least is my Dad for leading me down the right path and offering me the knowledge that I have today.

"Aaron here's the facts. I've predator hunted every sense i was in grade school with an old 22 long rifle my Grandpa gave me and an old home made predator call my uncle gave me. I'm sure i sounded like a sick rabbit or whatever I was trying to sound like, But i did call up something every once an a while. Over the last 15 years or so I got more serious about predator hunting. I'd call up several coyotes and a few cats every year usually end up killing between 40 to 75 coyotes a year and about 5 to 8 cats. This year after i received the Red River Bandit call it's been non- stop on the Cats. I usually just have about a two week span of calling Cats a year. I always get them started with the "RRB" and may go to the old FoxPro to direct there attention away from me. I've killed 20 cats this year myself. Called up 4 that my nephew shot and a couple more for my other buddies. I've also killed several coyotes using the call. This year I've focused most of my sets on Cats.  I forgot to mention
a few cats I called up with no shots taken and yes a few misses that I hate to mention.  I've shot around 40 coyotes but they'll add up in a couple of weeks after Cat season closes. I'm still calling Cats for my nephew every chance I get. I knew it was a great call from the first day I got it from the mailbox at 11:00 A.M. and by 12:45 P.M. I've done kill two cats in the middle of the day. Got doubles twice this year. All my hunting in Okla. is daylight hunting. Don't get to hunt at night like some do. Thanks for making a great call Aaron. You can make calls the rest of your life but in my opinion you'll never get one better than the old Red River Bandit...Thanks "yotbuster" or Dale McCurry

"Yotbuster" Dale McCurry and his four bobats and one coyote all called in with the Red River Bandit.
